Cafeteria Announcement:
starting tomorrow, 5/1, they must have enough money in their meal accounts or cash on hand to purchase their meals, otherwise, they will be getting only a cheese sandwich with milk for lunch and none for breakfast.  This information has been sent to all parents through the school newsletter and is also posted in the school website.  As the end of the school year approaches, we can no longer allow additional negative balances in the meal accounts.

Field Day:
Tomorrow is field day from 9-12!  Kids should bring a light jacket (it will be 56-60 degrees, cloudy and windy!) and a complete set of clothes to change into afterwards.  Kids may bring a small knapsack to hold a water bottle from station to station, hat or sunglasses, although it will not be sunny.

Pizza Party:
All of my students are invited regardless of homeroom teacher if they maintain good behavior and effort.  This week has posed some challenges as we near the end of the year, so please reinforce appropriate fourth grader (!!) behavior at home!

Homework
Division practice and math facts.  We have been dividing for about a week now, so the kids should have more fluency with it.  Have your child recall the division family to remember the steps of the algorithm:
Dad - divide
Mom - multiply
Sister - subtract
Brother - bring down
-do this until there are no more numbers "in the house" - the dividend has nothing left to bring down
Rover - remainder.  Whatever is left over is the remainder
Cat - final step:  check!  Multiply the quotient (answer) times the divisor (number outside the house) and add the remainder which should add up to the dividend (the number in the house).

Pink:  pg. 153 f/b
Green: pg 151 f/b
Study facts!

Social Studies:  finish compare/contrasting globes and maps if not finished in class today.  Staple the Venn diagram with your observations from class to the back!

The Art Show is coming on 4/29 from 5:00-7:00 in the cafeteria!

We have hired ARTOME to frame one work of art for every student K-5.  The students have chosen their best work to display!

Artome will come in on Monday April 29th and set up a display of all the framed art in the cafeteria.  Parents can purchase the frame for $25.00 the night of the show.  If they cannot attend I will accept “preorder” checks or cash the week of April 22 – 26.  I will pull those frames after the show and parents can stop by the school at another time and pick them up. (All the art will be displayed/arranged by the classroom teacher’s name and grade).

Please visit www.thepositivelyperfectpurplepencil.weebly.com for more information!

No homework due to Checkpoints testing tomorrow and Wednesday!

Please continue to study facts at home though.  3x2 digit multiplication and division are very difficult without knowing your facts!!

Next week, we will not have homework on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday as an incentive and reward to try their best on Checkpoints testing on Tuesday and Wednesday.

We are working on our 3D Island Projects.  Students may bring in any items to enhance their projects from home.  I also have pipe cleaners, pom poms, funky scissors, construction paper, and foam paper to use.  I love seeing how excited the students are with their themes and how motivated they are!

We are also working to increase our math complexity levels from higher digit multiplication to division to higher digit
